Wetherby Racecourse

Project Description

KGM was appointed by Lindum Group to work on the new five storey Millennium West stand at Wetherby Racecourse.

The ground floor of the new structure is home to the Henry Crossley Bar, a coffee lounge and a Betfred shop. Racegoers can access the suite from multiple entrances that open up directly into the Paddock and Betting Ring and there is also an internal entrance from the Millennium Stand for Premier Racegoers.

The first floor – the Riston Suite – offers fantastic views across the Parade Ring, Racetrack and Finish Post. It can be accessed internally from the Millennium Stand or via the new Millennium West stair tower, which also provides lift access.

The second floor is home to the Racecourse’s ‘1891’ Bar, which is open to Premier racegoers, while the third and fourth floor consists of a prefabricated building, which was fixed to the steel frame, and is home to the photo finish camera and commentary boxes.

A Kingspan Architectural Wall Panel system was installed, which had a flat finish to the panel rather than the industry standard micro rib.

This contributed significantly to the stunning end result of the finished building.
