Project Description

New state-of-the art facilities created for Ely Primary School by Kier Construction, designed by Frank Shaw Associates, with KGM Roofing appointed to carry out the roofing installation.

With 630 pupils, an additional 52 pre-school places and an out of school club ensuring the building was efficient was a priority. The building design incorporates high levels of insulation and low air leakage to help minimise the school’s energy demand. Ten percent of the remaining demand is provided by roof mounted photovoltaic cells supply renewable energy giving reduced CO2 output.

On completion of the project Bryony Surtees, Executive Head Teacher of the school, which is run by the Active Learning Trust, said “The school looks amazing – it was well worth the wait!”

Secret fix aluminium twin skin insulated roof system was used in conjunction with secret fix aluminium polyester powder coated fascia and soffits. The roof system comes with a 25 year AWM warranty.

As this is a school special anti-climb rainwater pipes were installed for extra safety.
